WIG and BHAG day for team Furuya - planning our high dream future together.
Team Furuya did a team planning session today. It included pulling sacred cards and seeing what came up, looking back on a previous planning paper (95% of the things on there came to fruition) and dreaming big and broad. This was the magic dreaming day. Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG - thank you Collins and Porras and Wildly Improbable Goals (WIG - thank you Martha Beck).
Then in the coming says; how-to, some checking of the financials and some next steps. Always staying in the high dream.
It’s a lot of fun AND I learned a lot about my Hub and the things he’s been researching and what his inner works looks like. I was humbled and delighted.
It’s pretty exciting to plan together.

Great reminders:
👍Props to my husband for going with my unusual techniques. He has a spreadsheet for every CD and DVD he owns so aligning with him to dream without evaluation is a feat.
👍Trust - we trust each other. He handed over the wheel to coaching techniques.
👍Reminder - I was reminded of his power of intuition when it comes to people. He has a nose for the genuine.
👍Generative processes and listening - if I stay quiet long enough more information flows out. Free writing alone is useful. Free writing then silence gives space for more to emerge.
👍Techniques like using cards or card decks are useful (any deck will do - it’s just to use more than cognitive functions only). The deck really kick-started our conversations and high dreaming. I believe you could even use a deck of playing cards.
👍Although I am the one who listens to dreams and businesses and executives all day every day - he has so much incredible information I don’t. He’s been studying and researching and has all this current knowledge = useful, elevating AND sexy.
👍He recently got his boating license. For no reason in particular. But doing something like that broadens perspective. And broadened perspective is generative. A lot of stuff is generated at EDGES. Getting close to edges is important. Options. Creativity. Humility. Happens at edges. Confidence builds at edges. Confidence builds everywhere if we recognise every tiny thing we’ve done. But it really builds at edges.
👍It’s lovely to SEE each other outside of a daily context. He handed trust over to me as this is my zone of genius. Today we talk numbers - his zone of excellence and next steps - our collective responsibility.
👍This makes my stomach flutter. It’s scary. But it’s sky-dive scary. Not sewage scary.
👍Free writes unearth all kinds of dormant thoughts and desires. Using different media and senses is essential. Writing, talking, thinking, dreaming, intuition, pictures, colour. Or else we are limited by a very narrow band of the acceptable - approved by the establishment.
👍it’s amazing what facilitated planning session can surface.
👍We like and admire each other - this is a deliberate and welcome state. We allow ourselves that. It’s about pausing and taking a moment to take the other person in.
👍These planning sessions have a momentum of their own - our 2013-2017 (Just after I started my business) one was in a cupboard until our move in 2019. When we reflected on it, so much had happened that we recorded. My financial goals for the business felt scandalous at the time but now would be undercharging. The figures are there. The targets were hit. WITHOUT EVEN REFERRING BACK TO THE DOCUMENT. Interestingly there was a random boat on Keisuke’s part. No explanation. Just a boat. We hadn’t even started dreaming up a place by the sea 🌊 at that point. Although seaside was on it.
👍Right now we are sitting quietly on the sofa together - I am posting, he is learning from YouTube, I will be reading in a minute. We are on our first cup of tea. Our days often begin like this. Quietly sitting with one another.
I always remember the quote by Johnny Cash. When asked for his definition of paradise, Johnny Cash replied;
“This morning, with her, having coffee.”
That, ultimately, is the goal, the devotion, the dedication every day.
Only with a swimming 🏊♀️ pool.
